Grandfather had that same surgery back in 1968.   His voice was never more than a very hoarse whisper after that, so communicating was difficult.   He did manage to live another 15 years though and we enjoyed those years very much.    Glad you've hung in there.   His came from over 50 years of roll your own cigarettes.
