I think the lack of supply (calves) from ongoing drought the last 10 years is one reason. I don't think cattle prices are high because corn was high, although I do think corn coming down has a lot to do with feeder prices being where they are. I guess the consumers are willing to pay more for beef, so that probably has a lot to do with fed cattle prices which do trickle down to feeders and cows.
I guess this could all be summed up with those three simple words: supply and demand?
