Good post Archie.  I remember doing the same thing from our county agent Mr. Jim Wells, Brown County Ohio.  When I got into Extension I really pushed the OARDC soil test which is similar to the Midwest test today because it worked well, better than anything I had used, including my own LaMotte soil test.  I learned about tissue testing then in 87 and the search for hidden hunger and micro nutrients and nutrient balance began.
