Plains of NW OK | It's tough to not plant wheat on the good ground. It always makes money so it's hard to risk something there that has a higher chance of failure. With normal weather we can get 50-60 bu wheat. Back to the sandy loam. We generally don't run cattle too much. We have rarely done either milo or beans and never corn. How consistent are these crops. Beans seem to have a low break even as long as prices stay up because you save the cost of N. Is it too much to ask on this type of soil to try DC? I'm thinking planting the beans later like the last week of June or even July may be better. | |
