Ripley, Ontario Canada | Here oats are a more common crop. There is no reason they should be weedy at harvest. Lots of cheap chemicals that will take out most broadleaf weeds, 24d, MCPA and most of the hormone herbicides work well. We can also preharvest here with roundup. The bigger issue here is that the oats have lost resistance to rust, so 2 applications of fungicide are required.
While some still swath here, the vast majority of spring grain is harvested here with flex heads locked rigid. Works well.
