Subject: RE: Finishing an old attic

Largest room upstairs was an attic. We converted it into a bedroom back in the late '70s. Before converting the only entry was thru a 1/2 doorway in a closest, no flooring, just boards & old stove pans laid haphazardly on uneven floor joists and no windows or heat. A friend & I dis the work, well mostly him & I helped, other than installing the hot water heat and laying the carpet. Our house is actually a 1 1/2 story so the roof line is the upper part of the walls on two sides, house shaped like a cross., with a 4' wide ceiling between. We used bat insulation & covered with polyethylene. A few years later we blew extra insulation into the ceiling area. If redoing today I would look into closed cell foam.
