I haven't had too many prolapses, but according to my vet, it's not a reason to cull. He said said it's about as likely to happen twice to the same cow as a backwards calf (pretty unlikely). As for the hereditary issue, I wouldn't worry about it much. If you keep the heifer and she prolapses, then I would ship her and her mom.

Edit: BTW I'm talking about uterine prolapses, ship out any other kind of prolapse.
