Subject: RE: Hauling cost per mile

between NW and NC Iowa
Just throwing a guess out there. $2.95-$3.25 a loaded mile plus cost of wash, disinfect, and drying or take cost of wash, disinfect, drying and divide out over number of loaded miles and add to loaded mile rate. I was always told a good rule thumb for livestock is to take the price of fuel per gallon at the pump and charge that per loaded mile. Example fuel cost is $3.05 per gallon so your rate should be real close to $3.05 per loaded mile plus your wash, disinfect and drying. This is my experience hauling cattle and hogs, anyway.
