Subject: RE: Non GMO Fed Cattle from Crop Talk

Northwest Ohio
Thanks for commenting on my post in the crops section. Mostly suggesting that a market could be developed, with enough capital and coordination to create the critical mass needed for a fully functioning new supply chain channel. I applaud the guys that are doing this on a local basis. Just seems this could be replicated on a larger scale. Plenty of complicating factors...such as cross pollination. My big concern is what happens to the livestock industry (which we, as grain farmers need to remain healthy) when all of the GMO-hating consumers realize that nearly all meat and dairy is produced with grain containing one or more types of GMO technology. I think much of the grass fed beef movement is based on objections to GMO's. For reference, we are an all gmo grain operation. And, I think it's important that the farmer community does all it can to improve demand for all US food products. Seems developing a more robust non gmo market channel fits with this goal.
