Chicken breed/egg color has a lot to do with it.   If they are white leghorns or some Mediterranean breed with a long comb egg production will plummet when it gets cold.   That's why we run Rhode Island Reds and Buff Orphingtons  for the most part.   Got a couple leghorns and we see very few white eggs this time of year.    Going to go to all brown egg layers in the future.
