Pilot Grove, Missouri | Start by checking to see if you have spark at the coil wire during cranking. I you have spark, replace the cap and rotor. If no spark get a test light and check primary wiring at the coil. One side should have constant voltage under cranking the other side should flash. If you have a flash the coil is bad. If no flash either the ign. module or the crank sensor is bad. 96 should be the vortec engine and the crank sensor is in the lower part of the timing cover, the ign. module is I believe mounted in the vivinity of the ign. coil. Could possibly be a wiring problem also, have had several vehicles with problems due to rats/mice. Patrick | |
