Midwest | about 10 years ago I switched from 15 inch rows to 30 and started notill planting all my beans to get away from white mold, and with very careful variety selection I have had very little mold since. Also, no manure applied in the field ahead of planting beans. There have been a couple years, like 2014, where I felt my yields were hurt by being in 30 inch rows (had very short beans that never came close to filling the canopy), but feel it has been worth the changes to reduce white mold. I know a few neighbors have tried some fungicides and Cobra with some success. I think variety selection is the most important factor. | |
