With a split application in 2007 I raised 173.2 bushel corn, my best in a 18 years on the place with 111 pounds of N. My second application was with the corn 4 feet tall. I chose my corn number carefully to do well with less nitrogen and had lots of organic matter and was no till. It took my tenant three years to beat that yield while using a lot more N, still split application.

In the Iowa Farm Bureau Spokesman that arrived today there is an article "Free online tool helps growers with split nitrogen application decisions." Apparently its called "Corn Split N", at
https://mygeohub.org/groups/u2u. Look for Scenarios and Split Nitrogen Timing and Application Methods. the article says.
