SCIA
Some thoughts;
!. A year ago, was no one looking at this and working on costs?
2. If you were not, a year ago, yesterday is not soon enough. Get costs in line with current prices.
3. Seed dealers will deal. Or get a new brand. New customer discounts are still out there. Play the game. Plan for a new seed brand every year. Think through who and follow their yields and know what you want for varieties.
4. Bid fertilizer and chemical prices.
5. Get your living expenses under control!!!!!! Living large is over for a while.
6. If you are a grain farmer only, get a job, find a on farm side line, hauling grain, custom work, livestock. We have several sideline businesses that mesh well with farming. Learned that in the 80's/90's. Some who started later never had to do this.
7. Move on before your net worth is all lost. No shame in finding a different occupation. Older brother ( his was all lost) moved on in'83, 30 year in the plastics industry. Good hours, good pay, good benefits and great retirement, just was not for me.
