You lived in your trailer HOW LONG??? And your objecting to a couple more months during stick build construction? Short of long term sight. Investment wise its a no brainer,,,,stick all the way.

Those cheapie windows doors and trim including cabinets will bite you where it hurts alot faster than you think. Depending on present family size and how much YOU can and will do may determine HOW you get there.

As already said a basement in cold country costs much less than warm climates,,,its only another scoop deeper. Those footings are deep and wide anyway. Plumbing access alone is worth the price as well as furnace and ducts

As said if your in oil patch area things may change rapidly,,,,I would wait a year to see.Or two. Lots of people survive a little tight on space. What ever you would build NOW may only be worth 10 to 20 cents on the buck if it gets bad. Theirs plument,,,yours does too. Going to the bank for an operating loan is alot harder with a house 150K under water or even less.
