Subject: RE: Cover crops into v6-v8 corn

West Union, IOWA FLOLO Farm 52175
1-Spray a week earlier, pull the residuals

2-combination, but it depends on next yrs crop

3-clovers,annual rye seem to be the easiest.... But seeing promise in a few others that wer playing with...

4- we did moisture monitoring this summer and was extremely dry for a good spell.... InnerSeed always had higher moisture level.... Could see different seeding rates on a yield map.

Biggest advice I have for any covers.... go to all the meetings, talk to as many experts as you can...learn as much as you can, BUT.... when all is said and done, you're going to have to experment on your own. Everybodies system is different..... And everything reacts just a tad different.

Here locally, we seem to have a few of us crazy folk teaming up and sharing data.....that seems to be speeding up our learning curve. Universities and commercials seem to have missed a good opertunity...Even USDA-NRCS seems to be sending mixed messages....
