Subject: Another seed corn question

southern MN
Where does hybred seed corn come from?

I understand the 2 parents, detassel one. What I planted for grain in spring of 2014 was raised in 2013 in these detasseled fields.

But, where did the 2 parents come from?

Are there a set number of parents to choose from, and they do endless crosses between them to make the detasseled generation of parents?

Then how do you develop enough seed to create the detasseled generation of seed, to plant for the end seed production?

What is the hybred seed production system - for dummies?
