A 2400 dollar heifer may give you 10 yrs of calves. Where as a busted up old cow may give you 2 or 3 if you keep it alive and get lucky. It's short sighted... but has its place I guess..
That place really isnt here either though - as said if a cow shows up looking like hell, there's a good chance its on its last legs for a reason, not because it's just hungry.
