I do rent some land with cattle on it. Dad has been in the cattle business for a while. There isn't many cattle around here mostly tobacco, cotton and peanuts. Talked with a older gentleman in the cattle business from the western part of the state. He said if you cant make cattle work in eastern NC you couldn't make it work anywhere. His words not mine. As far as fertilizer we can use chicken litter but its around houses so I will go with liquid. The only hesitation I have is buying 2500 bred cows then the market dropping. If I knew it would stay up for a few years it would be a no brainer. I'm trying not to make a dumb mistake but land around here doesn't come up for sale much.
Where are they giving cutover land away at? Might need to move to FLA. | |
