SE SD | He wouldnt wouldnt have to go in debt with cattle right away, he could rent it, or custom graze it. Slowly build up his herd. How long can you graze cattle down there 6 months? What does typical rent go for per ac for cattle? I know there is some in NC Nebraska that is bringing 400 for cow calf for 6 months grazing. You didnt mention 9500 payment for how many years? Seems like rarely does land cash flow anymore with out supplemental income or something. I wouldnt go broke trying it, but if i thought i had a fair go of it i would sure give it a whirl. Can always sell land again. Usually FSA has some pretty conservative numbers also they are using for cash flow. They arent going to get into a deal that wont work, i wouldnt think. Might want to visit with them some more.
