Subject: RE: Cover crop for cow/calf gazing ?

southern MN
3 bu of oats in the drill.

The small box I have set at about 12-15 lbs rate of alfalfa, and run all the small seeds through it. I roughly mix 30% turnip seed with a 50-50 alfalfa clover cheap plow down mix. The turnip seeds are a tad bigger but meter fine.

This year was terrible cold wet, planted oats May 5th which is too late here, and the oats barely made it it was so harsh. The turnips came up first, made for a huge turnip crop this year. The alfalfa and clover is weaker this year, harsh spring, several feet of water in June......

I posted some pics this summer/ fall on this site, if you search for 'turnip' you'll likely get some hits.
