Subject: Hydraulic question for shop door

I am building my own hydro door and was wonder what kind of safety valve is everyone using in the cylinders to keep the door from coming down in a hose failure. I have been looking at lockup valves, check valves, pilot valves, cartridge valves with various cracking pressures. I guess I am just confused what works and what doesn't. TIA
