We ran a 1480 with an 8 row head for 17 seasons. Traded for a 2166 and ran the 8 row head for a couple years then replaced it with a 6 row. If you push that lever a little farther forward with your right hand the 6 row will harvest just as many acres a day as an 8 row. Plus you have 25% fewer parts and it weighs and transports easier. But you have to mentally be able to handle driving that fast. Dad just could not see any reason to drive a combine faster than 3.5 MPH.
If you want an 8 row head it will handle it. If you want a 6 row head it can get just as much done if you push it. |
