Subject: Couple questions!?

First question is what is the best way to stop so much silage rot at the top of our silo? It's an old concrete silo and every year when we open it up to start feeding Silage we have to shovel about 2 foot or rooted silage out just wondering if there's a way to not waste so much feed every year? And second question is I bought a cow this June That I didn't think was bred but when I had the vet out preg checking she said the cows about 7 months along which would put her caving in December or January which is not a good time to calf up here in northern michigan so I keep the cow in the barn while I put rest of cows out on pasture for winter and gonna keep the cow in barn till she calves now My question is should I let her raise up the calf or should I take the calf off her and bottle feed the calf? I would like the cow to put more weight so I can get her bred next summer. And back on our regular calving schedule with the rest of the herd. Thanks for any advice
