In my opinion IH became arrogant and didn't pay attention to their competition. Tractors with 55 gallons drums for cabs, then there were the torques, bull gear rearends, an you can go on. John Deere was lucky to have the old two cylinders and they started all over with very good tractors. But we never could afford one so we run off brands like Fendt's etc.
