Franklinton, LA | At the time of the merger in late 1984, AMCO in Yazoo City, MS was building disk harrows for J. I. Case and their sister company, Glencoe in Glencoe, MN was building row crop cultivators, field cultivators and chisel plows. The year before this merger, these 2 companies had a big reduction in sales due to the 1983 PIC Program. The loss of the contract with J. I Case was an even bigger blow. A short time after the merger, Glencoe was purchased by Farmhand and AMCO was purchased by a group of investors in Yazoo City. There are numerous other companies that were affected by this merger as well as the tractor dealers. | |
