SW KS, near Dodge City | We've had inflationary pressures for the last several years, it's just been at the wage-earner/consumer scale and the ag industry. What they're scared of though, is that even with everything they've dumped into the market, they still haven't seen broad-based inflation. This would be one of their last desperate acts to kick-start inflation... Otherwise they're terrified of a deflationary spiral. The nice thing about inflation for them is that they can somewhat control it via interest rates. So they want steady, stable inflation. Makes everybody feel all warm and fuzzy. Deflation, well, there isn't anything they can really do about that, and it's painful too. So they're caught between the proverbial rock and a hard place.
Unfortunately, I think that they've all decided that the average US citizen, or heck even worldwide citizen, is acceptable "collateral damage" in all their games. | |
