I'd recommend going to climate master's website and downloading their geodesigner software. It will walk you through different loop designs and will allow you to figure out how many loops, how deep, and how many feet of pipe. It's a very handy tool to get your head around different designs.

There are special fittings (geostab is one) that allow you to join the HDPE pipe together without welding. They cost more per fitting, but would allow you to do the work without buying a plastic welder.

The one thing you will need to consider is if you want a pressurized or non pressurized system. Non pressurized seems to be the most straight forward and there are some slick pumping stations out there for those systems.

One thing to look into is duct sizing. Geo systems can require different duct designs since the output air temp is lower than with conventional systems. You may find that you need to insulate a portion of your duct system.

Bottom line, you doing the install is totally doable. Don't let anyone convince you otherwise. After all, all they fundamentally are is an air conditioner that directs where the heat gets rejected.
