Subject: Had a question this morning about the dollar.

Got to wondering if the reason for the dollar's strength might be the reduction in crude imports. The thinking was if we don't buy enough oil to push enough dollars into the international market the demand for dollars with which our trading partners need to purchase our products might rise. Developed this chart. The evidence is pretty weak.
So why is the dollar strong now, because Europe and Japan are essentially devaluing?
