We had a Rottweiler cross once. He loved everyone, but he barked anytime strangers came around. Once they met him, he was their best friend. Until this one neighbor came in the yard, and Brutus would not let him out of his truck. I never saw him act like that before. I told the guy he better leave, because I couldn't hold the dog if he got out of the truck. The guy never came back. I think word got around after that.

Yes, having dogs around keeps thieves away. That was mankind's whole purpose in domesticating them thousands of years ago.
