Kingston, Ohio | I am a nurse with my BSN and I work at a local rural hospital as a ortho nurse.
I agree with Mrs. B, there are many different degrees and specialties in nursing. It's one of the many reasons I chose it as a career. In Ohio, (at least in my area) there is a big push to entry level nursing starting at the associate RN level (no longer LPNs).
A nurse practitioner is an advanced practice RN who has at least a Masters Degree and would make more than the average associate/Bachelor RN.
According to the United States Department of Labor, in 2011 the annual mean RN salary in Ohio was $61, 710 with the mean hourly wage $29.67. On the same site, it has Iowa's annual mean RN salary as $53,300 and the mean hourly wage $25.62. www.bls.gov/oes/2011/may/oes291111.htm (you can look up any state on this site)
The top paying states are California, Massachusetts, Hawaii, Alaska, Nevada. | |
