What kind of budget do you have? We have been using the Lenovo Thinkpad T series for many years at the office and it has been a very solid laptop. Well built and the docking stations have exactly what you are looking for. However, they made a pretty big change in design between the T430 and T440 models that I am curious how well the T440's hold up compared to the older designs and I am not a huge fan of what they did to the touchpad either. The removed the DVD ROM drive and made it thinner and light weight, you can always add a USB drive if you need that functionality. I'd probably recommend trying to find a T430 model that a 3rd party site like Newegg or Amazon if you consider buying one.

We also have used the Dell Latitude models as well, another solid built laptop with docking station options. If dual display is your biggest concern, you can find good USB port replicators with the capability too that works with about any laptop.
