Centralia, MO | Left Sunday from northeast Missouri, went thru the Bootheel into Arkansas, thru Memphis Tennessee and ended up in Mississippi (yes, Tunica!) for the night. Left the next morning for my brother's place in Montgomery, Alabama. drove back today coming up thru Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Illinois, then back home this evening. Man there is still a lot of crop out in the field! I was really surprised to see how many soybeans were still in the field. Some of them, especially in Arkansas, were still not mature. I'm assuming those are double crop, correct? Lots of good looking corn yet to be shelled also. Have the fields been that wet or was the crop late going in and is still carrying moisture? Several combines running today but it really didn't look like everyone was hitting real hard. It is almost the first of November! | |
