Subject: RE: Value Of Burnt Corn Stalks

Near-north Ontario, French River
In the grand scheme of things the loss of any nutrients or OM from a single burning is going to be negligible. Is there potential loss? Sure. Can it be quantified? Probably not with any real accuracy . Is it worth pursuing as a result of a one time incident? Probably not. Years ago every acre of corn stalks was burnt in some areas, that same land is still very productive. Now if the field was getting burnt by the same neighbour on a regular basis it might be worth putting up a stink but lets not make a mountain out of a molehill.
