Have one all the way along north eaves trough and up valley on gable as well as some loops up on roof some.
Got one cable long enough to go up downspouts and along the entire distance.

Think it was a CTC product.
Had one there for many years and put a new one up when we redid the roof 15 years ago.

I think you can get thermostat controlled but we just plug in when ice starts to form.

Do not use it some years depending on conditions but works well when needed.

It is just a relatively small black plastic covered wire.

Think there are different lengths available.
