Subject: RE: Cost Per Mile Selection At Multi-grade Pumps

Lincoln, NE
John,

Thanks -

E-30 still has a significant mileage penalty of 10% compared to E-0 and 7% compared to E-10.
This said - it doesn't mean its not the lowest CPM (cost-per-mile) because it depends on the cost per BTU determined by the price spreads between grades. If you want - put up a picture of this pump with the grades and prices and I will figure it out for you. I developed a spreadsheet to check out the FuelCOG app and it seems "right-on".

MPG penalty is a linear relationship commensurate to E%. This is according to all the credible sources including the EPA, the same people who mandate the E program. http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/byfuel/FFV2013.shtml

FYI:
E-0 (winter blend) has about 112.500 BTUs per gallon
E-10 (winter blend) has about 108,860 BTUs per gallon
E-30 would have about 101,580 BTUs per gallon

Thanks again, John.
