The heat per watt is exactly the same, the fancy furniture heater may have a bit better fan to blow the heat around.
As to a milk room heater, the things have not changed since the 40's, big sheet metal case, poor quality red hot wire wound heating element and wheezy noisy little fan. Last winter I bought a pair of"comfort zone" brand ceramic heaters from TSC. They have a ceramic heating element that is much less likely to start a fire than the red hot wire wound heating element, silent yet powerful fan , and smaller plastic case , less than 6 inches square. Puts out the same 1500 watts and 5120 BTU's as the big milk house heater. One on sale was $15, the other at regular price was $20.
