Did you pull the equipment with the same tractor? Do the rows go north-south or east-west? What's the make and model of your guidance equipment?

I can think of a few other problems you are encountering, but most important is to note that drift is much more a function of draft than anything else. Going across guess rows is always risky business unless you set up full implement guidance. Full implement guidance works pretty darn well tho. I know of quite a few potato people who are planting 8 and harvesting 6 [rows].
