Subject: RE: Random thought

Has anyone thought of the possibility of insurance companies selling futures to cover downside exposure before the crop is grown and than buying back those positions in October? Or maybe someone can help me understand the use of swaps and why those keep increasing in volume........................ I think it would be foolish to believe someone in the insurance business hasn't figured out a way to limit exposure.
