Subject: Sesame questions

Douglass Kansas
I have never grown it or even seen a field of it, but am considering growing it, either as an early double crop or as full season on some of the ground that seems like it will only grow wheat and milo. I planted soybeans on one of these fields this year and they made 17 bu/acre. Sunflowers are out of the question because of deer and bird damage. Based on information from the Seaco website it looks like the lasted we can plant would be around June 25, and could be delivered to Cheney, Kansas.
What kind of a yield could I expect (yield goal) if planted around June 18?
After sesame is ripe how long can it stand in the field without being harvested?
Do the pods fall off or do the seeds pop out of the pods?
What is the current price? Could sesame be more profitable then 1200lb sunflowers?
Is it difficult to get a stand when there is good soil moisture, but is going to be hot and dryand windy? What if it rains before the sesame emerages?
How will sesame handle a little wet weather?
How do I control pigweeds in it?
