Blue Grass (Eastern IA)

My belt broke and came off.  I will not be able to wedge the bottom pulley open.  Will that cause me more problems?  Any way to get it open?

I did the greasing procedure, so cams should be free.  The 2 yr old belt exploded, cords everywhere.  The previous one lasted over 10 yrs.  Bad jd belt?  Is the HD belt jd offers a lot better?  I am pushing it hard in green stem beans, and the engine is turned up all the way, prob. running 250 hp+.

Thanks
