On my 8230 while adjusting the pre sieve, I don't go totally by the notches. If you look at the pre sieve from the rear while adjusting,
In the middle is a piece of steel ( about 4" long) that runs parallel
With the sieve pointed toward the rear of the machine. This piece moves with the sieve as it opens & closes.
In corn I set it about a 1/4" above the frame in corn, 1/4" below in
beans. You may be on notch 4-5 to get it set where you want it.
I always open the sieve all the way up then close to my desired setting.
A flashlight helps also in seeing this. Just a suggestion.
