Subject: RE: Whats manure worth?

Beresford, SD
Big feedlot east of us will side dump to farm and spread for $10 ton. Hard to put value on manure..........Land with a history of manure just yields...........The fields we farm that had a history (last 5-10 years) of manure out yielded the commercial fertilized farms by 12 BPA on soybeans and about 10-15 on corn. Had a 37 acre farm (dads home place go 77.3 all hauled to town and I had a 140.6 acre farm do 74.8- soybeans..........Non manured farms were low sixties and upper fifties. If you doubt the power of manure split a farm and compare.....It takes 3 years to get the full value of manure. Some years it is the only value added in the livestock business.

Edit: MINNBEEF...Is absolutely right on.
