Subject: Hailed on beans?

Amherst WI
I had some beans have some major damage about the first week of August. I'm going to guess they were 80% defoliation.

Now I'm trying to harvest these things. Some beans are hard others are yellow kidney beans yet. We had a frost several weeks ago that should have killed them and had the same wet weather everyone else has been enjoying.

I'm just wondering what others have seen. It seems like the hail made the beans stall out and not mature like they were supposed to. One of my landlords said he had the same thing, an agronomist I talked to thinks I'm nuts.
