near dyersville iowa | Fed a bale of hay at noon today. Same hay as Ive been feeding the last three weeks. Had some fieldwork to do, came back 5 hours later to check and feed a little feed. One calf dead, another close to death-I ended up stabbing it with my pocket knife, and its up and around at least for now. Penned the rest of them away from the feed/water. Been watching them constantly for the last two hours, I think(hope) the rest will be ok. But why would they bloat now? Same hay, pretty nice hay that had been baled on the edge of being dry, feeding it because it wasnt going to keep a long time. Im going to go back out and check them in another hour, pray for me... | |
