Subject: Best way to get a moisture sample by hand?

Lorenzo, tx
Second year to grow corn, and Im cutting some for some neighbors as well. Is there an accurate way to get a moisture sample from the field by hand? I try to get a good range of ears and shell by hand several ears worth to get a good average. Im using a Mini GAC plus. It seems like I sample by hand and think alright were ready, get the combine there, and when I take a sample out of the bin there can be as much as point or two difference in moisture. Ive taken the samples to the elevator and I know my tester is with in a few tenths of the elevator. Where am I going wrong? Usually the drier the more accurate the reading is. This isn't always a problem sometimes its right on, but its frustrating to get equipment moved and find out you have to wait two more days.
