I must be an idiot. Still cannot figure out how to get gps signal into my pro 700. It's an '04 8010.

I have a ez guide 500
Pro 700
Hockey puck garmin gps
Seriel cable
Null modem cable
Gender changer
Harness number 87382742
AE72991 Ethernet to seriel adaptor ( for hockey puck)

Feel like I've tried everything. I cannot find the plug underneath the armrest they say is there. My pro 700 is tied into the combine with harness 87363746 which is supposed to be a conversion from a UD to a pro series. My pro 700 does have a 12 pin plug on the front of the harness though.

I've taken the armrest apart. It's not there.

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? I tried the seriel port on the pro 700 and also plugging the garmin directly into the Ethernet port on it also.

On an 04 8010, there is no RS232 connection from the factory; those combines were wired only for CAN GPS. You have to install a separate harness if you want an RS232 connection on the combine. But running GPS directly into the 9-pin port on the Pro 700 is also a valid option (and easier and cheaper). If you do that, make sure you've selected RS232-B as the Connection Type in Toolbox > GPS. As for whether you need the null modem adapter, it depends on which pins are Tx and Rx on the Garmin harness. On the Pro 700 9-pin connection, Pin 2 is Rx and Pin 3 is Tx, so you need to connect the Tx pin from the Garmin to Pin 2 on the 700. Don't worry about connecting the other line.

The Garmin needs to be configured to output NMEA data from 4800 to 38400 baud, 1hz, 5hz, or 10hz, GGA and VTG turned on.

The Ethernet port on the 700 is not used, so you won't get any joy there.
