West Chazy, New York

Teosinte is still around, and occasionally used in a corn breeding program for theoretical research. It will cross readily with modern corn, showing how closely related it is to the commercial varieties used today.  I have seen it in a demonstration plot, and it would be hard to make a living with that as a main crop.
