northern IL | It sounds like you have a virus of some sort thats giving the calves acidosis . I think your best defense is to get a fecal sample sent to a lab to find out what your up against , and then you will know what treatment to use.
The reason I commented about minerals is because years ago I had calves with a water like scours three days after birth and the only way we could save the calves is an IV at the vets office for two days .
The culprit then was a mineral deficient diet .
And we was feeding a high percentage of corn silage.
We had angus cross cows that were very fleshy at the time .
I don't remember what mineral we was deficient , but in your case it don't sound like mineral is the problem. | |
