NW Iowa. / SW Arizona | I had my hog confinement pumped last week and had it injected into bean stubble. The guys that pumped it did a good job but over applied my preferred rate by over 20%. This is a contoured field that the majority was applied. I realize I will get over application on these circumstances. They finished on a different farm that had 1/2 mile straight rows and I think they met this target rate pretty close but I haven't measured the applied area to see how close they are on this field.
Just to clarify I was wanting 3,000 gallons @ acre applied they ended up putting on 3,800 on the contoured field. What is an acceptable over rate application? I am satisfied with the their work other then being off by my preferred rate. They have been pumping for me for over 5 years so have no desire to switch to an another applicator even though there is plenty around to choose from.
I should also note my hog confinements are far enough apart so I don't qualify to have a manure management plan so I'm not worried about what the DNR will say. | |
